the rock of salvation

When I was little, I used to imagine that there were giants stepping over the distant mountains and onto my street.

Then I would pretend I was afraid and run all the way home screaming,”Ahhh, The giants are coming, the giants are coming!

I headed for the huge two ton rock in our front yard, and covered by the branches of our large avocado tree.

I named that rock “Big Rock”. It was my safe place.

The Rock of Salvation

Photo from the home I grew up in. Big rock doesn’t seem so big to me any more.

When I arrived home, I climbed up on the rock and pretended there were alligators on the ground. I made sure that my foot didn’t touch the ground or even come near it, because I didn’t want the alligators to snap at my feet. Once I was standing on the rock, I imagined that I was safe from the giants and the alligators in the land.

Was this the Lord planting truth in me through my visionary gifts?

Truth like:

God is like a rock. He is the rock of my salvation.
We must be completely planted on the Rock of Jesus Christ and under the covering of His tree of salvation.
We cannot afford to step in to the sin of the world. – living from the flesh. Friendship with the world is enmity with God. James 4:4
The Lord is my Rock, my fortress and my deliver; my God is my rock in whom I take refuge in, my shield and the horn of my salvation, my stronghold. Psalm 18:12

Rock of salvation, giantsYes, There are giants (demons) in the land, but they cannot harm us because God has hidden us in the Rock, -that is Jesus Christ, and we have power and authority over all the strategies and plans of the enemy.

Behold, I give unto you power to tread on serpents and scorpions. – ( let me suggest alligators too ) and over all the power of the enemy, and nothing shall by any means hurt you. – Luke 10:19

Alligators are cold blooded ancient evils that bring generational curses, and attack our walk with Christ. They wait for you to step into sin so that they can snap (accuse) and bite (wound) you.

If we take a stand upon the Rock, He is a firm and sure foundation. 2 Timothy 2:19 –

“Everyone then who hears these words of mine and does them will be like a wise man who built his house on the Rock. And the rain fell, and the floods came, and the winds blew and beat on that house, but it did not fall, because it had been founded on the Rock. And everyone who hears these words of mine and does not do them will be like a foolish man who built his house on the sand. And the rain fell, and the floods came, and the winds blew and beat against that house, and it fell, and great was the fall of it.” Matthew 7:24

Jesus is like a tree of life, ( an avocado tree) providing shade for all who come under Him. He poured out his life, blood, sweat and tears on a tree, that we might have life and have it abundantly!
– John 10:10
